This event is taking place on the first annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, established by the federal government earlier this year in response to the Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) of Canada’s Call to Action #80. The next featured speaker in the series is Michelle Good, the award-winning author of Five Little Indians, a fictional story based on real-life recollections of residential school experiences. The Speaker Series is an opportunity to learn, understand and engage on important issues like homelessness, addiction, intergenerational trauma, and reconciliation. The free, interactive series seeks to highlight voices of Indigenous artists, writers, activists, and leaders to provide powerful examples of strength and the positive impacts that one individual can have. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is proud to present the second guest speaker in the It’s Time to Talk: Indigenous Speaker Series, on September 30 at 2 p.m.
